Hello friends and family. Got some pictures of a hut trip me and a few friends did last weekend near Aspen. The huts were started in the 40's or 50's for military training in high alpine settings. You can now rent and reserve them for a few nights. They're accessible by snowshoe or skiing in with climbing skins (like strips of fabric for the bottom of your skis that glide one way and grab the other). This hut took us 5-6 hours to get to and it's quite beautiful and remote. Good skiing nearby. Hut is stocked with wood, utensils, outhouse, solar lights, propane burners, bunks, etc. We packed in food, clothing, liquor and sleeping bags.We hiked in on a Saturday, did some ski touring on Sunday and then straight-lined it out on Monday. It only took us on skis an hour to get out. (Down mostly)
